day 17: your idol and why you look up to them.
my previous ballet teacher, pedro szalay.
he began strictly as my mentor and instructor, but as time progressed he became my friend and like another father to me. i admire him so much because he has such a big heart - gives so much and asks for so little in return. also, his artistic ability is incredible. he always has a vision that brings out the best in all of us. i wouldn’t be the dancer that i am today if it wasn’t for pedro. he’s taught me more than just dance technique. he’s taught me so much about life, love, friendship, hard work, and passion, and i couldn’t thank him enough. i hope that one day i will be as great of a teacher/mentor to other dance students and at least half of the person that he is.
